I have not tried pixiv requests but I had them open on my account. I wish skeb was open to non JPN users to take requests but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

You can link references, I usually just drop a imgur link. There’s a dedicated form field for it.
I would often look at posted finished requests on the main page and copy the request text then change words to fit my oc. It’s all about your verbage ig lol

I think you can ask them to have it be private or public?
But the only thing that kinda sucks is you have to just wait for the artist to complete it without any messages.
There are stats on artist’s pages on what % of reqs they completed

Essentially you submit a request and the site will translate it into Japanese for the artist. The artist can then approve or deny.
If they approve they have a set time limit of days to complete the request.
Your payment goes through once they submit your art to you.

I have used it a bunch and loved it. It is a bit hard sometimes with the translator to get what you wanted but I enjoy the budget aspect.
