This 9/11 is hitting me harder than most. I worked in the North Tower in the mid 1980s. I know the focus is rightly on those who died that day and the years following, but I also really miss those buildings. They held so many memories.

We're near the ten-year anniversary of this interview, which was viewed as wildly controversial at the time. It led to hit pieces on me from liberal outlets like The New Republic as well as death threats. Now it's seen as conventional wisdom -- but it always was!

The fact that fossils and fresh carcasses mix together in this spot is bonkers. But of course it makes sense, because the scavengers that live down there also need a steady supply over millions of years. They can't just suddenly adapt to the deep.
