This is really not what I needed to hear today. I have been away in a cabin with my family this week, and have been missing #spiritisland because it is just a bit big to bring with me just for solo play. This looks like it is a much nicer size for travel. But I will resist!

I think I probably will buy it (Many Realms has it for 30% off). But I am trying to stick with my resolution to only get games through trades or Geek Market used… so I may have to force myself to wait!

Every time I read about this game I remind myself “You do not need a new game. You have many many lovely games. You should not buy this game.”
I keep putting it in my shopping cart, then taking it out, and then putting it back in…

The mommy dragon is just about the best consolation prize/tears avoider I’ve found in a game. My kids end up ecstatic that they have an empty egg. Brilliant.

I feel like my hobbies (knitting, board games) help me connect with my kids. My kids have initiated so many conversations while I am sitting and knitting - I feel like it has the same effect as talking in the car. And board games are such a great way to have fun with my kids…

The Crew (either one) might be a good choice if folks know trick taking. Fun, cooperative with a good amount of depth.
I have never played or really looked into it much but I think Cat in a Box is from one of the sillier games companies but is also a trick taking game new.
