None of the main group are superheroes, and I don't mention them, but I do think they'd be there.

Each and every one with their own pain, their own way to process and deal (or not cope all that well), and many with family who said they loved them and maybe even meant it... But also failed them and somehow expected they'd keep showing up for Sunday dinner like none of it ever happened.

Theo has superhuman endurance and is indifferent now, so they simply want to move on with a life lived away from the people who hurt them. Their family actively supported the detention camps, believing Theo would be spared because they were "one of the good ones."

Rowan is a shifter who lost their mother and sibling in the facility, and their superhuman father left them all behind, only being saved because he married a non-super woman with their unpowered kids. The relationship isn't just fraught... It's broken beyond repair.

Hugo has telepathy and empath abilities, and he's pretending to be alright while his family asks what he's going to do now that he's out. No gesture of compassion or understanding, only stoic requests for strategy like a five-year plan.

Davon is a healer and doesn't know how to feel even as his family made a stand to get him free, protecting as many as they could. Their passion is overwhelming to him most days.
