Stoked to see the email this morning -- my pastel painting Roots II has been accepted into the IAPS fall show. I need to head up to that tree root again soon and make a Roots III.

Aquatint etchings progress pics! I'm really hoping I removed too much ink from the pay phone plate. It's so high key! The dark was supposed to be quite dark.

The tree print I proofed partway into the etching process. I think it's going to turn out nicely.

Plein air session this fine morning at the White Rock Overlook. The river is so muddy from the recent rain! The rain managed to move Los Alamos County from Exceptional Drought to Extreme Drought. Baby steps. #pleinairpainting

Day 30 #stradaeasel

Woo hoo done!

It's another rainy AF day here in the land of enchantment (1.8" in 48 hrs). Tbh I just want to sit by the fire and read about Tara Selter's day.

#stradaeasel day 29 rainy again woo hoo! Drew some tree branches

I made such a noob printmaking mistake today. I was working on a recognizable Los Alamos scenic view and forgot to flip the photo reference horizontally. (The second pic shows it with the right orientation) 🤦

Good thing I decided to proof super early in the process! #linocut

Like often happens, someone sat down in the seats I was drawing and I didn't want to weird them out. #stradaeasel day 28

You can tell when I'm tired (or had a busy day) because it usually means a blind contour drawing!

Dark and mysterious tree for a dark and rainy day.

This is a drypoint on acrylic -- next up is copper etching. I need to decide between the phone booth motif and this tree.

Day 19 #stradaeasel

Everything is so wet rn, so much rain. Yay!

I lost my quick release plate on the walk in (attaches to my easel mast/tripod) and I forgot my brushes. My bad. I painted with my emergency brush and paper towels.

It was a beautiful morning, perfect cool temp and I got to paint.

Day 18 #stradaeasel
It's been a looong day, and my eyes were dilated for most of it (eye exam day.) this one could probably use more work but it's couch time.

#stradaeasel day 17

Last day carving this tree from life.

I kinda wish I'd left the trunk alone entirely. Oh well! I see a lot more ponderosa woodcuts in my future. #woodcut

#stradaeasel day 16. I worked on the woodcut again. I worked on it a bit yesterday. Maybe I'll pull a proof next week even if it's not finished.

#stradaeasel day 15 getting some context for the tree today. Limited palette: burnt umber, ultramarine blue and yellow ochre.

My art making options on the train today were digital or etch plexiglass, lol. I went for a digital drawing. #stradaeasel day 14

We're making woodcut relief prints and adding in a layer of color on some of them. For this one adding graffiti seemed appropriate. It should read FUCK ICE but alas the black ink covered up ICE. Lots of trial and error with printmaking. I might give it another go on Wednesday. #printmaking
