Got up early for an electrician, tidying like mad because the agency was vague about what the guy was checking in the flat. Guy arrives late, doesn't even come into the flat, looks at the fuse box and grumbles about electrician-related bureaucracy for a minute, leaves.
But hey, the flat looks good.

I enjoy the incongruity of hearing someone loudly clopping into a room, then seeing that they are somehow making that borderline-horse-foley noise with a pair of slim-soled loafers.

The year is 2026 and have recently started finishing every google search with the phrase 'just answer the question'.

The fact that it genuinely helps is worrying.

It suddenly occurs to me after many decades that "brainchild" is not a word I care for at all.

Having never really got the appeal of a big hollow chocolate egg (but also an adult, so no probs), I now have a colleague who generously buys each of us one every year. So we need to get a savoury Easter egg into the mainstream asap. A peanut butter and seed ball, maybe? Is there an Easter squirrel.

Waiting to go in to watch a dress rehearsal of SNL UK.

Remain unconvinced that this is a thing anyone needs, but am prepared to be pleasantly surprised.

My colleague always moves InDesign layouts along still zoomed-in to 275% (we're copy editors; she needs but refuses to wear glasses) and with all the grids needlessly turned on (making the text hellish to read). It's the editorial equivalent of leaving the piss-stained toilet seat up and I hate it.

If one's colleagues ickily insist on starting end-of-week emails with 'Happy Friday!', might one be due some sort of monetary compensation for damages (psychological torment).

Hear me out: the button tabs on rolled-sleeve shirts the adult equivalent of mittens on a string.

Good morning, the first thing I saw when I opened Instagram (mistake) were photos of the guys in their Beatles cosplay so this day is already a total write-off. No more biopics please JFC.

New form of self care is watching Instagram updates about Isabella Rossellini's farm.

I didn't think this was a thing with cats, but am pleased to report that after nearly 14 years, I have finally had the honour of gently flipping my lil house monster's inside-out ear back into place >^..^<

I can't think of a diplomatic way to tell the self-appointed office soundtrack gatekeepers that I absolutely hate their music and cannot take another day of it, so instead I've decided to unplug the two bluetooth speakers and pop them in the microwave on high for a few minutes.

Peter Hujar's Day is a perfect example of the type of film that impresses and moves me on a cellular level while others go straight to "glorified podcast" or "a boring nothing" instead of taking a moment to consider that they probably just don't get it – it being a quiet, genuine piece of art.

Observing NYE in a quiet dive bar at 7.30pm with a glass of house red, an Anne Tyler novel and a golden oldies soundtrack. Determined to finally call a truce with myself this year, see if we can work together to make the next 43 years a big ol' trip instead of something I'm just getting through.

Turning the corner into the driveway of 43 and now officially get a full-blown hangover from a pint of IPA within two hours of consuming it. What a rush.

I'm sorry but it's adorable when I can't unlock my phone after a long shower because my finger pads have gone wrinkly.

Indulging in a cheeky half on an autumnal evening. Tiny disembodied glow-in-the-dark hand deployed for spooky purposes.

The Love That Remains (new film from Godland dir) just needs to lose Those Bits and I think I'd love it. Also, does it switch to digital or a different film format at some point? (Why??) Wish I'd stayed for the post-screening talk, hope the BFI share it at some point, I have so many questions...

Day one, tablet one of ADHD medication.

Stimulant. Controlled substance. Dangerous, scary stuff. Your heart can and will explode. You will be able to taste sound.

Says medical authority.

Feel weighty and befuzzed, jet lag from a trip to the moon, considering taking a nap under my desk.

Says I.

I don't suppose anyone wants to buy my London Film Festival ticket for Sound of Falling on 11 October?
The festival doesn't allow returns and the only thing they suggest is to stand outside the cinema on the day and hawk my ticket in person (no, I'll be at Jay Kelly on the other side of the river).

Come at me, cosy season. Ugly paws over here ready to do the snug-toed tango.

My sweet, dorky, squishable wee fuzzball.

Making gentle *ting ting ting* noises as he drinks from his enamel water dish.

Because his lil pink tongue is covered in tiny, flesh-ripping spikes.

Cats are punk rock as hell.

While copy-editing polo content is on par with undergoing a root canal, the polo pony names are quite good. Two current favourites: Why Not I'm Easy and Biceps Slash

Just realised I've booked into the gym at the exact time that the government's emergency test alarm is scheduled to start blaring from everyone's phone. Love a bit of cardio with my cardio (I do not).
