If you’re thinking of starting a new fantasy series this summer, the Haven Chronicles begins with Haven Wakes.
Think magic, robots, and plenty of doors that go where they really shouldn’t.

Why are click bait headlines so wierd now? 'Sky news halted for breaking alert and it's humiliation for Keir Starmer' (usually). 'I'm a doctor and this is why dying is so bad for you...' or whatever. Just tell us the news, you shit mongers. Stop trying to be Frederick Forsyth.

Here’s a question for my fellow fantasy readers. When you start a new fantasy story, what draws you in first?
The world?
The characters?
The opening mystery?
The tone and atmosphere?
Or something else?
Let me know in the comments.

Today I sent book four of the Haven Chronicles to my publisher, Burning Chair.
I’m sure there are more edits ahead, but for now this feels like a quiet milestone worth marking.
Thank you for sticking with me as the world of the Haven Chronicles unfolds.

After battling a rampaging mob of rat, cat, and car sized spiders, assisted by a group of newly freed harpies, I'm exhausted. I desperately need a cup of tea.
Okay, so that wasn't me. It was Steve and co. But writing it felt like a battle. And I still need that cup of tea.
