It would be difficult to pick only nine top games. So here are nine from just this year.

The last (and maybe the best) of my Routine screenshots.

Keeping all the visual effects turned on in this game gives a very immersive VHS look to everything.
A hallway leading into a room bathed in yellow light. Chairs and columns peaking out from behind glass blocks. A flower displayed in the center. A huge airlock door with a dim blue light highlighting the room. A doorway into new rooms with a flower image covering the wall. Various items on a desktop. Including a can of soda, a VHS box, a pile of tapes, and a white board with the word “torch” visible.

Some more screenshots from my time in Routine.
A gloved hand reaching out towards outer space. Some computer equipment is a disheveled state. Hooked up to a boxy robot. All in a red room. Tape or cloth hanging down from the ceiling blocking your view into a new room. Retro glass blocks partitioning a space away from a central atrium with a giant model of the moon.

Routine has amazing atmosphere. When you’re not being hunted by robots, it pays off to stop and look around you.

Made by such a small team, it’s a video game worth the time.

There are some slight spoilers in these screens, but I avoided any of the story stuff.
A sign for “the mall” hanging above a planter full of ferns. The CAT, a tool, left out on a small table. With instructions and other small items. The main window at Union Plaza revealing a large moonscape. A small living quarters with a bed and table, that look well used.

Routine is one good looking video game. The moon base would be a quality vacation spot… before everything went sideways.
A disheveled and well used bed on the moon. Union Plaza from Routine, a large window revealing the lunar surface. Notes found on the wall of Union Plaza. A sign for the Mall in Routine, looking very late 1980s.

December 4th is packed with great games! Haven’t had this many interesting releases on the same day in a very long time.

Which one to play first… maybe Routine?
An astronaut covered in flowers in front of the moon. A robot in shadow behind the astronaut. A bounty hunter in a space suit named Samus Aran in front of an alien gateway. An adventurer in the woods walking into town. A person waving at them in the distance. A big yellow truck driving in the swamp land of Louisiana.
