I might just have a preference for the authors voice or something but I feel like a lot of dude authors miss needed elements in setting up rooms and reaction details than can make scenes that should be moving fall flat and feel tensionless.

I have a weird aversion to books written by men. I dunno why but it feels like women and nb authors are better at getting me immersed in a characters perspective. A lot of dude writers kinda sound either really gruff and unthreatened or detached from whatever their characters interacting with

Highguard was self-published—there’s no public investors or publisher needing X% explosive success to get massive ROI. Who put the studio in a situation where they’d have no runway if the game just did “okay?”
