Some BS too and thats alright, got to shoot to score

As it stands, he's getting LW minutes imo. Under the assumption that Gyok leaves, still

If jesus leaves and we get another winger - then Alvarez is free to do what he does best

Start centrally, drift wherever, drop deep. Hell he great for us, he can become a superstar, possibly
August 26, 2026 at 5:26 PM
From a lot of the time being the only guy, the main attacker on the charge for atleti

To being the main guy, yet just another piece in the attack for arsenal

^ should improve his output easily. The guy can shoot the guy can score
August 26, 2026 at 5:23 PM
there's no right or wrong answer. a team can easily be 'jack of all trades, master of none' and stay fighting for CL. a team can easily have such a potent attack that it just cannot be stopped

etc etc. the arteta, alonso, Carrick bucket needs even more time than the first group
August 26, 2026 at 12:37 PM
all 6 are rigorously studying the opponent and trying to find ways to hurt. one side has more options. in a world where each team is trying so hard to solve their opponents, this is an advantage. we can succeed in many types of games

EM,AI,RDZ - what they r going to do is clear
August 26, 2026 at 12:37 PM
high level point

arteta - has no 'style'. he has the opponent, he will play to win the match whatever the best outcome is. maybe same - Carrick(???), alonso(?)

vs

maresca, Iraola, de zerbi - clear, 'fixed' ideas how how he wants their team to win. clear idea

generally, this is true ^
August 26, 2026 at 12:37 PM
maybe similarities in pep klopp and now arteta Iraola in a way

klopp, iraola - wants to punish mistakes to SCORE
pep, arteta - wants to stop opposition from having the chance to score

^^^^^^^ spitting out whatever rlly. good fun

and so, sometimes he was more defensively minded. it doesn't mean he evolved, he changed. it means his CONTEXT changed

and it's obviously a mix of the two, he learns from each game, each season. but the core manager, core person, core ideas remain the same. it was always ADAPT - to the opposition
August 26, 2026 at 7:35 AM
truly learn and understand how to build up, how to be positioned in defence, etc. he could have won more games early on in the league - he CHOSE to reduce chances, so mistakes would result in learning. <-an example

then, when his players figured it all out, he started focusing more on winning games
August 26, 2026 at 7:35 AM
this is how he played, now this is how he played, then this was how he played, now this is how he's playing

NO

yes, factually it's true. but in reality that's all framed later. I do it too

point is it's always the context of what's going on. initially, he'd be more open because the team had to
August 26, 2026 at 7:35 AM
not married to anything but increasing the chances of winning.

depending on what's going on in the season, game state, players available, form, his team can do anything. to a rlly high level

when I see 'arteta's evolution', it always takes out the most important thing - CONTEXT, PLAYERS
August 26, 2026 at 7:35 AM
arteta's FA Cup winning team was a low block and counter team

if the direct counter wasn't on, they'd delay, waiting for support, then try and camp around the opponent box. he's been building this for years, but PLAYERS decide what you can do or not do

Arteta very pragmatic
August 26, 2026 at 7:35 AM
this is why arsenal are so good. within the PL you'll see so many diff approaches. all of them need to be beat, Arteta's team adapts. alonso will build the same, it takes time

this is the future at the highest level in the PL. this is the secret to being up there every year
August 26, 2026 at 7:35 AM
tactically, teams put you in a lot of different situations, different types of games. the breadth of type of games, game states has increased

so you need solutions to each type of problem. there are many types of problems, even within games it changes so much

this is where arteta, alonso shine imo
August 26, 2026 at 7:35 AM
if you have just one style of play, it's too easy to find a solution and make you blunt. there are people working day in day out to find your weakness

so, you need different ways to win

unless your style is impossible to stop. I doubt that's possible w/o the best players in every position
August 26, 2026 at 7:35 AM
both managers have an intense focus on forcing mistakes. works best when they have space to move into, so CL type teams

arteta and alonso same idea, taken in a diff direction - WHATEVER the opposition style, we have a counter to it

that's modern football at the very top^ a solution to any situatio
August 26, 2026 at 7:35 AM
if the press is the main creator - then your style is based on punishing the opponent mistakes - which means based on what they want to do

it's inherently underdog football, a response. at it's core - our plan is try to stop your plans. you keep the ball, we'll use the space

very Liverpool?
August 26, 2026 at 7:35 AM
I think that's a big change in modern football in recent years - how much the focus on the opposition decides things

it's a lot of - "what will the opposition do - and then, in response, what should we do"

Klopp, now Iraola game model is based completely on the opposition
August 26, 2026 at 7:35 AM
bit of a reaction - but I've said something similar before

Arsenal, Chelsea, City - the 3 best squads looking like the three best teams. with 3 modern, opposition-oriented managers -looking like the 3 best teams

are we shocked? sometimes it isn't deeper than that, football is a simple game
