The mandatory watermarking and identifying of AI images can't come soon enough.

Social media analysis: the main way to go viral on Threads is to get someone to comment "omg the way I ran to the comments".

We all know that Olivia Rodrigo is currently on an obsession with The Cure, but has anyone played her the first Sundays album? I feel like she'd flip.

While I like the paperclip problem to describe the dangers of AI--you give it a simple task and it destroys humanity trying to mindlessly accomplish it--has anyone called this the Fantasia brooms problem? Maybe it's too dated, but it seems like the perfect analogy!

What if confirmation bias was a stock that you could have invested in fifteen years ago? You’d be a quadrillionaire now.

Almost always, the iPhone feature that changes the lock screen to one of my pictures fills me with joy at the pictures it serves up. Sometimes, though…

In the Threads vs Bluesky argument, the technical winner is easily Bluesky. People should avoid Meta platforms as much as they avoid X. But it is interesting to see some big names moving to Threads, and it’s clear to me that Bluesky has made some bad decisions lately.

For a few glorious seconds this morning, I had managed to convince my 12-year-old that the third Bronte sister's name was Kaeleigh.

Rewatching 30 Rock really shines a light on how much the world has changed in the last 20 years, partly in the technology, but more recently in the episode we watched last night where they buy 2 dozen doughnuts for under seven dollars.

I got my kids to say “six seven” less by making a big deal out of any two numbers being together. “Ha! That guy just said ‘three four’!” Now I’m trying to figure out how to do the same thing with “cooked”. Instead of “dinner’s ready”, saying “we are so cooked”?

I want AI to get good enough so that I can look at the music recommendation engines on Spotify and Apple Music straight in the metaphorical eye and ask "What is it, exactly, that you think I like?"

In fairness, sites treat my request to "trust this device" with exactly the same amount of trust I give anyone these days. Hard to get too mad when it asks again.

Why aren't they stopping to appreciate the lovely landscape around them?! They're taking a TOUR of FRANCE. Take it in! Jeez. Everyone's in such a hurry these days.

I know it's funny that so many of my views relate to Olivia Rodrigo in some way BUT: I was listening to "Driver's License" and thinking that, if that song was AI, it might make my ears perk up, but those lyrics without the human experience would be ridiculous. But from a person's lived […]

The rules suck, the refs are beyond terrible, the penalty kicks are infuriating, and the cards are injust.

But the goals are just the best.

London feels way cleaner, safer and more modern than when I was last here 20 years ago. US urban centers could learn a thing or hundred.

Instead of using AI
I called a friend, a good cook

We chatted and I asked him what side I should have with dinner
He paused. Um, cucumber salad, maybe?
Could I have the recipe?
Uh, okay? Here’s a quick one

I thanked him
I found I needed to alter it
I called him again
He didn’t answer
