Much love to the neighbors that used expiring transit benefits to get us a bunch of $20 metro cards!

Money for transit is one of the biggest needs we hear about — folks have places to be!

If you’ve got expiring benefits or some extra cash you can put on metro cards they are super helpful.

Comrades in Frederick, MD are blocking ICE from kidnapping a family they’ve been stalking since yesterday. THEY NEED PEOPLE! They won’t leave til ICE does. Get out there if you can.

“A majority of the nearly 4,700 guard members deployed to D.C. are from other states or U.S. territories, most of which are led by Republicans, and have volunteered for the assignment.” A vast majority of the guard members in D.C. are part of the mission voluntarily, meaning they raised their hand for the deployment. Such deployments offer extra pay for guard members.

This is what the M street underpass looked like for years after the camp community here was evicted in 2021.
A wide sidewalk in an underpass, hanging from the ceiling is a light installation that looks like crystal icicles. Along the sidewalk are closely crowded Jersey barriers, wheatpasted onto the barrier in the forefront of the picture are fliers that say “people lived here” A view from a distance of the same underpass, the sidewalks are clear.
