Write it on the blackboard a thousand times: they will have to demolish the ballroom, the arch and so forth. They will have to make a show of it. You will get the usual sons of bitches saying we don’t do that in this country. We do now. That is not emotion, it’s politics. To do less is dereliction.

There are many markers of the esteem in which Dolly Parton is held. One can be found on Major League Baseball's social media, where the comments are not known for empathy, sensitivity, and so forth. A kid made a tasteless joke about Dolly Parton. I've never seen a lynch mob raise so fast.

Aside from her many other accomplishments, Dolly Parton did more for the cause of literacy than anyone who ever lived, probably. That work will continue.

My favorite Kruk story is still him arriving to the minors in Washington State. He meets his roommate.

“I’m Tony Gwynn.”

They shake hands, talk. Finally Gwynn says, “You haven’t been around many black people, have you?”

“I’m from West Virginia,” Kruk says.

They became close friends.

The first pitch for tonight’s “Pope Hat” giveaway at the White Sox is being thrown by Sister Mary Jo Sobieck, who in 2018 - then in her fifties - threw a devastating, professional 86 mph changeup. The players were stunned. youtu.be/EXyKwLQeLP4?...

If anybody runs into Cilizza—not that he matters, he hasn’t for years, he never really did—ask him about La Follette, Daniel Hoan, and Frank Zeidler. Film it.
Remember Chris Cillizza?

He’s sweating.

"Binface" also wants water company executives to swim in rivers to prove they're clean. This is a major issue in Britain. Like all good comedy he isn't really joking.

Banning Popehat was a profoundly stupid move by Bluesky. Moderation is a very difficult job at this kind of scale, and I tend to grant lots of leeway for that reason. But this move was simply indefensible.

No true New Yorker inserts a punctuation mark to avoid the profane. North Jersey, same. This is some Westchester shit right here. Or possibly something even more pastoral further up the fucking river.
People can hate on New York and New York fans all you want. But understand you will never have the satisfaction of us caring one f;cktwit about what you think. That goes especially for Boston.

I've seen the David in Florence and stood before Guernica in Madrid. I caught Zero Mostel's Tevye and James Earl Jones in Fences. I've had the tasting menu at El Cellar, twice.
But all of that was mere prelude to seeing Sonny Rollins close out jazzfest in New Orleans.
God bless his immortal soul.

Just welcomed SIX foster kittens.

Lots of work ahead for us all. They have upper respiratory infections (common with feral kittens) but they’re eating well.

Let’s hope a few weeks of medication and socialization does the trick.
