Let’s Go X!
Coach P is cooking! Playmaking point guard away from taking the roster from promising to really shaping up.

Gonzaga playing that out defensively was a choice.

Coming into the year in Kenpom era (since the 97 szn, so 29 szns) X’s worst finish in KP is 81. Only 4 programs had finished with a ‘better worst KP finish’

Worst KP finish (# coaching changes)
Kansas: 27 (1)
Duke: 36 (1)
Mich St: 64 (1)
UK: 78 (3)
Xav: 81 (5)

Sadly ends with 6th coaching change

Critical last 4 minutes coming up for Xavier to finish in the top 100 for the 30th consecutive season

Herb Bauer absolute legend! Xavier home games won’t quite be the same! Three point field goal three point field goal. Macura for Xavier.

That was a fun game tonight. Good to have the students back on campus. Could feel the energy level. The Larkin bros going out at midcourt together with their jerseys was very cool.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen Xavier get pantsed quite like that in their own building.

CFP should go back to 4 or 2 or expand to 16. If 16:

No byes
Seeding based on final ranking
5 auto bids (conf champ from Big Ten, Big 12, ACC, SEC, highest ranked G5)
11 at large bids
R1, QF, SF all on campus at higher seeded team
Natl title played at the Rose Bowl ideally on New Years Day

Crosstown Shootout

What a bummer of a result. But very encouraging performance. Let’s see if we can carry that over to Sunday against West Virginia.
November 22, 2025 at 4:22 AM
Xavier had four players score 20+ points tonight. Wonder if that’s ever happened before.
November 19, 2025 at 2:29 AM
I’m not sure how to handle this. Xavier has not been flat out just a bad bad team in almost 45 years. The not so good to bad teams of late have all either been fairly competitive or had pretty extenuating circumstances that resulted in them being bad.
November 15, 2025 at 2:42 AM
That was awful to watch. Completely uncompetitive from the jump against Santa Clara.

Alright I was able to go to the exhibition game today. X might struggle offensively this year. Not a lot of guys that can create their own offense and good looks for others and the outside shooting or lack thereof is troublesome. If this game was in Dec X probably wins, execution was very sloppy.

1. Definitely a bit surprised Mack was turned down. I would’ve been fine with him but not crestfallen or anything.

2. I probably would’ve chosen someone else over Pitino, but I definitely don’t hate it

3. Most excited for a fresh start and new principles, namely no more packline!

Xavier is in such a weird spot. Feels kind of crazy to bring back another former coach immediately after the last guy just totally burned you. But also feels a little nuts not to bring back someone with as much success as Mack.
March 25, 2025 at 12:19 PM
Fool me once shame on you; fool me twice shame on me.
March 23, 2025 at 6:42 PM
That was awesome. Going to be thinking about that Xavier comeback and crowd for a long time, no matter how this season ends.

The selection committee makes a few baffling decisions every year w/both selections and seeding. And they don’t have to answer for it. They do these interviews where they talk a lot without actually saying anything and don’t explain it and we just move on and forget about it because the games start.

With Memphis, VCU, UC San Diego, Boise State as AQ’s I would have it right now:

Last Four Byes Avoiding Dayton
Oklahoma
West Virginia
Baylor
Arkansas

Last Four In
San Diego State
Vanderbilt
Xavier
North Carolina

First Four Out
Indiana
Colorado State
Texas
UC Irvine

Just wait until the media gets word that Travis Steele and John Groce are half-brothers and playing each other for the MAC Championship tomorrow night. They’ll eat that up.

Gonna be a long 73 hours

Probably the most likely conference for a bid thief.

Also, has any school fallen off harder than Temple? Perennial NCAA Tournament team from 1984-2001, missing just once. Went six years in a row from 2008-2013. Have been just twice since, last in 2019, haven’t even made the NIT since then.

The AAC starts Wednesday at the Super Pit in Denton (then moves to Dickies Arena in Fort Worth). Fun facts:
- Bid thief potential: Moderate
- North Texas is one of 7 teams to not lose a game by more than 7 points this season
- 10th is the AAC's worst ranking in its history
