Needing to win by 4 points nationally to get a bare majority in the House of Representatives due to partisan gerrymandering is (1) unfair, (2) a sign of America’s democratic backsliding, and importantly (3) doable.

My school district is being forced to lay off several educators and a librarian because of a $500,000 budget gap, or roughly the amount spent on the war while I was typing this post.
My university received a few years ago the promise of the largest single gift to a public university in U.S. history. It was equivalent to 12 hours of bombing Iran.
If you took $1 billion and gave it to the endowment of a different small college each day, they could each provide a free college education to several hundred students per year in perpetuity. Instead we are using that money to bomb schools and kill students in Iran, for no clearly stated purpose.

From what I can tell, the State Dept is behind on travel alerts for US citizens, ordered departures of non-emergency embassy personnel & other key safety moves when, you know, you go to war. Some sources say this is a result of sidelining career diplomats & not having a real policy process.
