I'm just trying to keep moving forward.
My teenagers are attempting to use slang. They sound like a couple of 80 year old FBI agents going undercover in a high school. How did I end up being more hip than them?!

It feels like the people who love me are dying at a rapid rate. Two more close friends died in the past two weeks.

I would love to be able to stop crying at some point.
Cornell science educator David Kornreich, Ph.D. '01, dies at 52
David Kornreich, Ph.D. ’01, who taught physics and astronomy in the College of Arts and Sciences (A&S), died Aug. 30 in a plane crash near Ithaca. He was 52. An avid aviator and flight instructor, Kornreich was piloting the LA-4-200 Lake Buccaneer amphibious aircraft, which he owned; the plane appeared to experience a mechanical issue before crashing about an hour into its flight from the Tompkins County International Airport, according to the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office. A passenger was also killed in the crash. As a researcher and teacher at Cornell and at other institutions, Kornreich made a career out of watching the skies and helping others understand the mechanisms driving those observations. Born Sept. 14, 1973, in Houston, Texas, Kornreich graduated from the California Institute of Technology in 1995 with a bachelor’s degree, earning honors in astronomy. He earned his doctorate from Cornell in January 2001, writing his thesis, “Morphology and Dynamics in Spiral Galaxies,” under the mentorship of Cornell astronomy professors Martha Haynes and Richard Lovelace. His thesis included a first-of-its-kind study of a set of galaxies and resulted in five publications, four of which he first-authored. Kornreich’s research combined his talent for computational physics with a strong...

Do I know anyone who knows anyone who is good at wordpress sites? My blog isn't allowing comments even though all the stuff I can find seems like it should be working. I need someone more experienced than me.

I'm happy to pay for assistance. This is not a favor. Do not suggest I plug it into AI.

Dolly Parton and Tim Curry in one week is really brutal. They are both important icons.

A good friend died recently very suddenly after a string of deaths over the past couple of years.

I feel like I am swimming in grief with no way to get my head above water. I miss Noah so much.

It's fascinating interacting with the NHS. Now 2/3 of my kids have been diagnosed with EDS. We get told that we are doing absolutely everything that one can do to manage and they are very impressed. Nope, there is no additional help they can offer.

It is nice to be told I've raised my kids right.

The book I wrote a chapter for is available for pre-sale. It's available in April and that is a long way away, but it's been a long time coming. My chapter in on clinical work with plurality.

Between today and tomorrow we are walking more than a full marathon. That is enough exercise for the whole summer, right?

It's hard to believe that it has been 18 months. I feel like I should try harder to climb out of fuckruptcy when it comes to emails.

It's been a while since I fully felt like I knew what room I am in and I know what year I am. I am getting better. I'm glad to drift in time less. I have hope.

The most dangerous thing about AI is not that the machines might one day think. It is that we are being trained, by men with enormous financial gains riding on our acquiescence, to stop thinking for ourselves.

I have spent my life watching Black activists and trans activists. It's a lot of why I am so scared of everything that is happening politically.

I'm really upset that US hatred and evil machinations are following me across the pond. We came here *because* they had better protection for trans folk.
“This is not a hypothetical. You are less free now. Your security, dignity, and safety is in the hands of nasty, petty, monumentally stupid bigots. They can take it from you at a whim.

And that should bother you.”

18 years ago today I finished birthing my first child after 49 hours of labor. Noah leaned over to me while I was clutching my infant and the doctor was sewing my bits together to ask a question, "You can change your mind later, but are you sure you want to have more kids?"

Yes, with you. Of course

One of the things that wrecks me every time I think of it: Noah didn't get to see Agatha save Mechanisburg. It's silly, right? But he loved that story. Girl Genius is our family culture.

There is no fair in this world. No one gets what they deserve.

And maybe it is true that the good die young.

Lately the various delivery services have been leaving me lots of post that doesn't belong to me. Some don't even belong to a house on my road, it's a ways across town.

I don't understand why this has suddenly become a regular thing. I'm feeling frustrated by having to take it on to folks.

The NHS fascinates me. Middle Child did great in surgery today. They can breathe through their nose! Woo! Also, while I was there I found a tick on my back and no nurse was willing to help me remove it. They handed me tweezers and sent me to the bathroom alone.

This is an interesting country.

I’ll never get tired of saying that both Hillary Clinton and Kamala Harris warned everyone what would happen should the criminal be given full power of the US govt and they were right about everything. The biggest example of “I told you so” in history.

I'm bragging all over the internet about this. I finally got to the top of the waiting list for the chronic pain clinic. It is going quite well. I was told I am the living embodiment of best practices for living with EDS. I try. It's a lot of work.

They have suggestions for help. This is great.

I will need to swear allegiance to this man soon. It's nice to see him shine in this moment.

Today I’ll see how a Scottish court room works. I’m going mostly cause this is the first time in my life I get to see someone who raped me getting prosecuted. No, it’s not my case going forward. I’m not perceived as a person worthy of defense; I’m a bad victim.

I’m glad others are worthy of defense

Hello nerd friends. I've been blogging rather prolifically over at Fetlife for the last few years. I have just shy of 600 blog entries I want to move to WordPress. My competence level is copy/pasting 1 by 1. Do I know anyone competent at writing scripts for such a task? I haz money. I will pay!

More and more this timeline is reminding me of the Netflix show "Years and Years." It's not a good comparison.
Remember when Trump threatened to wipe out a whole civilization? And then backed out of that and talked about forming a deal with Iran? And then dropped that and went to a UFC fight as negotiations fell apart? And then unveiled a triumphal arch and a photo of himself as Jesus?

That was this week.

It is going to be hard for the rest of my life that only Noah has ever been able to put himself aside and listen to what I was really saying when I was angry. He'd ignore my tone entirely. There is stuff I can't say until I'm mad enough.

No one else can handle that. Those things will go unsaid now.
