Children were invited to be a part of releasing a bird after it had been banded. What fun! The screams were of pure delight! #futurebirders #SwainsonsThrush #BirdJoy #UrbanEcologyCenter #BIPOCBIrdingClubofWisconsin

A trickle of migration has begun. Red-winged blackbirds are back and singing and the sandhill cranes are showing up too. No good bird photo ops for me this weekend, so instead I took a photo of this American Mink because cuteness.

My friend Lorri and I took a weekend trip to northern Minnesota. We were walking on a heavily used walking/biking path when Lorri grabbed my arm and told me to back away slowly. We had been standing directly underneath a Boreal Owl!! I took this photo as we continued to back away.

My friend Colleen and I found a red-shouldered hawk today, which was a Milwaukee County life bird for both of us, and #300 on my county life list. Woot!
