I don't see an argument here beyond anxious vibes. Do you have more substantial thoughts on this?

Nintendo isn't great because they're an isolated. They're great because they are in a constant, evolving conversation with the medium.

The idea that Nintendo doesn't let the "ideas of others" seep in is plainly a little ridiculous. Splatoon exists because Nintendo wanted to try a shooter of their own. BotW's director explicitly stated Skyrim as an inspiration. Smash Bros is a celebration of gaming at large.

I also don't see how adding a jump button even adds to the conversation here. It's not like the game was based around not being able to jump.

I've always loved when Nintendo tried higher detail. Twilight Princess was this for the Gamecube.

I think people got the idea that Nintendo games would always be compromised from a rendering perspective compared to their peers, when I don't think that was ever an intentional decision.

This feels like you are conflating a dislike of AAA exclusive pursuit of high fidelity with Nintendo's recent high fidelity exploration. Beyond being very detailed, I don't see anything here that's reminiscent of EA, Ubisoft, or Activision.

OoT Remake is definitely very high fidelity, but I struggle to see how that means they're "following in the steps of EA and Ubisoft". Artistically, it's definitely not aiming at hyper realism, but instead Nintendo experimenting with high fidelity, since they now have the power to do so.

What if I merely disagree? I personally don't think it's the peak of the series, but I think it's easy to see why people do.

I think begrudging people who think something else is peak is just a bit childish, especially in such a storied and evolving series.

The last game came out two years ago??? There are nearly 30 games released in 40 years?

Even filtering out spinoffs that's still 21 games in 40 years, meaning they average a game every other year.

How is this any different than those previous iterations? This is just like the swing from Wind Waker to Twilight Princess. How is this remake against older Zelda any more than any other Zelda?

Also, the games are definitely not tonally consistent. Like, explicitly so.

This is my only actual grievance this is so god damn dumb

Its never going to be enough to put me off, but this better not follow us for the rest of the series

He looks like they couldn't decide if he should look like a real 10 year-old, or just a smooth version of his N64 model, and so they decided on an exact middle point between the two

I can't tell if its cursed or perfect

They don't pretend it doesn't exist, its like their baseline for how the series looks, all the "generic" zelda brand art is based on it

WHICH IS WHY ITS FUCKIN CRAZY THERE'S STILL NO SWITCH RELEASE WTF

We called em babies, on account of their vague resemblance to the player characters.

One of the greatest things a mentor can do is challenge you, not just technically, but also in thought.

Documentation is great. But it will never point out your strengths or weaknesses, a linear thought process or a bad habit. Online guides can't notice misunderstandings.

Mentors are undervalued.

I was wondering how we'd finally get Tom Bloom to play Lancer. It really feels like it was made for him.
