Haven't seen a hummingbird hawkmoth perch up before.. this one rested on the garden fence earlier.

Clouded yellow out the front garden earlier today. After painted lady earlier this year, I don't think I can ever really top that now for butterflies?

Cracking adventure/birding walk today. Spotted a firecrest when heading up to the Ridgeway from Cefn Onn, and then Oscar spotted a spotted flycatcher at the quarry!! Also a redstart there. Had a redstart yesterday in the private fields past the Caerphilly snack bar too, from the fence line

Nice to have a reed warbler in the little reed bed at Castle View lake. Only a little reed bed really. Thats sedge and reed seen here this year now #glambirds

5/6 hatched, and 5/5 blue tits in the garage nestbox just fledged! 13/05/26 #glambirds

Cuckoo, tree pipit, garden warbler, and whitethroat at Rudry common. Also peacock, orange tip and green-veined white. #glambirds

10 possibly more swallows at Castle View lake this evening. They're properly back in numbers today it seems.

3 swallows going east along cliffs at Southerndown. Several butterflies in the woods above the walled garden, brimstone, holly blue, orange tip, red admiral and some unidentified flyby whites.

Willow warbler in at Castle View lake. Seems to be arrival 6 days later than last year.

High count of 17, possibly 18 goosander on the lake at Castle View this morning. Highest count this winter. Also kingfisher and heron. #glambirds
