I’m an extreme moderate and fear authoritarian populism. I also deplore gun violence and those that condone it.
“NZ First” appeals to NZ’s Worst.

I would wager that at least 100 of those 120 would be bona fide haters.

The co-author doesn’t sound any better…

Another strange detail not mentioned here: The co-author of the book, Rebecca Keillor, is married to Tameem Bakarat, who runs The Centrist. So they're not exactly just hands off backers as is being implied www.nzherald.co.nz/business/med...
'Real story coming': Unauthorised Ardern book - who’s behind it and who’s been interviewed
About 120 people, including ZB's Mike Hosking and Heather du Plessis-Allan, interviewed.

I guess some voters may have rationalised that Van Velden was already guaranteed her place in parliament, owing to National having gifted Epsom to Seymour (so whoever came in next on National’s list couldn’t be more extreme than O’Connor)?

Choosing between O’Connor and Van Velden is akin to choosing between contagious diseases.

Two years ago, the voters of Tāmaki gave National over 50% of the party vote but only 33% voted for Simon O’Connor. He is gone and likely (almost) forgotten.
October 23, 2025 at 6:52 PM
Ironic that Simon O’Connor would criticise others for ‘commenting on foreign affairs’, when he was happy to publicly rejoice on SCOTUS overturning abortion rights.

Judith Collins, sanctimonious as always.

It’s a pity that there is not also an ‘Anyone Else’ option.

Two years ago, Luxon offered Winston Peters the speakership but Peters regarded it as infra dig.

I wouldn’t describe Ryan Bridge as a shaved gorilla, as that would be unfair to gorillas.
October 7, 2025 at 6:02 AM
He was out of parliament for 9 of those 46 years, when rejected by the voters. Here’s hoping that happens next year too.
October 7, 2025 at 2:51 AM
Winston Peters has been in the luxury carriage of the political gravy train since 1979. He’s been a revolting bigot for all of that time.

I understood that Parmjeet Parmar stood in Mt Roskill in 2014, 2017, 2020 and the 2016 by-election. She got thrashed on every occasion.

In the meantime, Stuart Nash has likely emailed his resume to [email protected].

I’m very sorry to hear about your mum but am pleased that the surgeon did his best for her.

The conference delegates show their approval of Stuart Nash’s speech.
September 6, 2025 at 8:33 AM
Stuart Nash must be hoping that Winston First’s members have short memories…
