“What if orcs aren't really monsters?”
I'm more interested in:
“What if they absolutely are monsters...
but their civilisation still makes perfect sense to them?”

An orc doesn't need to secretly think like a human to be relatable.

He can care about his children.

Love his partner.

Worry about food.

Fear getting old.
And still believe solving an argument with an axe is perfectly reasonable.
That's the sort of fantasy character I want to write.

Which one deserves a better story?

Fantasy normally tells you why the humans are afraid of the monsters.

I'm much more interested in why the monsters are afraid of the humans.

Same world.

Very different story.

I'm trying a little fiction experiment.
