what I learned:
- plot composition: a refresher on grid.arrange
- legend placement: tried (& failed) to create a function to be level with the plot title
- citation at bottom: couldn't figure out how to easily change the background color, so the entire visual is white

ideally, the plot's upper and lower margins would be smaller. Title would be upper-left with the legend on the upper-right.

learned this week:
- functions: str_detect(), rank()
- heat maps in ggplot (a refresher)
- legend formatting (guides, positioning)
- could not figure out how to put legend and title on the same row :( so they are stacked
