Hey, Tim here from Atlantic Canada. I'm a hobbyist musician and songwriter. Everything I do in my mini studio is a rough guess!
During filming of Quentin Tarantino's The Hateful Eight, Kurt Russell "accidentally" destroyed a priceless 145 year-old Martin guitar. Tarantino reacted with amusement, and some speculate that he orchestrated the destruction. Russell later said "I don’t give a shit about the guitar". Stay classy!

***RANT on***
When an instrument gets destroyed for kicks or rock star cred, I lose some respect for the smasher. You're not Townshend or Hendrix, and you're certainly no Ritchie Blackmore. It's no longer edgy performance art.
Donate your unwanted instrument to a music program. Sheesh

Took the bicycles over to #PEI yesterday. The Gulf Shore Way between North Rustico and Cavendish is just beautiful.

My wife and I will occasionally shout an incredulous, “What is he building in there?” when we encounter a mysteriously covered-up project.

With the brass instruments and happy vibe, this makes me think of Herb Alpert's jaunty pop gem, "A Taste of Honey".

Love Maria Muldaur, BTW.

Hot take: Billy Duffy's lead on "Love Removal Machine" is the perfect ratio of creative melodic phrasing to mindless pentatonic wheedly-deedly.

Have a listen, and then continue the thread below. Billy's solo starts at 2:20, but I encourage you to listen to the full song - it's great.

Storm soundtrack? Rush has you covered. Perhaps no better musical depiction of a gathering storm than Jacob's Ladder. The best version can be found on Exit... Stage Left, IMHO.

Hi, Wiz Ball and fellow #HomeMadeMusic tunesmiths!

How about a big change hidden in plain sight?

I used to write tunes to practice stealthy modulations. Here's one where I start in the key of C and end up in E♭. It's a bit of a weird tune - maybe retro space lounge?

Hi, Wiz Ball and #HomeMadeMusic crew. 👋😀

Great theme!

My story song is quite dark. It's a fictional narrative in the tradition of the murder ballad. Listener discretion is advised, I suppose. I wrote this one for an album of cowboy songs I put together last year. Cheers!

I've long admired Bob Snider, who I often heard on CBC Radio in the 1990s. His voice is unforgettable, and his songs are masterfully crafted. Charming, humorous, & zero pretense.
From Bear River, NS, by way of TO, here's the one and only Bob Snider!

Dolly's songwriting talent was immense - far more than most folks realize.
Seriously if you haven’t heard this you gotta. It’s amazing.

I'll add Joel Plaskett to Kate's CanCon avalanche. Shoutout to Rose Cousins and Ana Egge, whose amazing vocals are also on this track.

I've discovered a gem of a show on Ottawa's CKCU 93.1 FM.
Stranger Songs is an eclectic folk/roots show hosted by Mike Regenstreif. Incredible variety, and lots of great CanCon.

The Guthries were a Nova Scotian band too few people know about. Exclaim! called their Off Windmill album an "astonishing debut", and I wholeheartedly agree. Their quirky, eclectic style of alt-country was charmingly naïve, and man, were they good! Have a listen.

I think I've found a candidate for Peak CanCon. This clip needs to be secured in a vault buried deep within the Canadian Shield.

If anybody has the full version, I'd be interested!

Now we just need Anika and the boys to cover... what? Nautical Disaster?
