I saw pikas while in high alpine meadows and talus fields in CO!
Pikas live at high altitudes & survive harsh conditions w/o hibernating. They gather flowers & grasses to dry out over summer & store it as hay to eat in winter.

I recently completed a nesting bird survey to check for active bird nests before construction activities commenced.
We do this to make sure the project is in compliance with the Migratory Bird Treaty Act and doesn’t impact any active bird nests.

It’s so important to listen to what’s being said in this post + videos.

Each Earth Day, I see a huge disconnect between how people claim they care for the environment versus how the reality of day-to-day life & operations are. I get it, it’s very hard to walk the walk in all aspects of environmental stewardship. In many cases, I find myself being hypocritical too.

We counted over 10 Swainson’s hawks swooping in for a bat snack at last night’s cave emergence during netting.
I’m normally on “Team Bat,” but it was awesome having so many Swainson’s swirling overhead while we worked.

Spent the Spring Equinox assisting with bat research. Every time participating is as exciting as the last. Lots of bats were pouring out of the cave this time - all heading to work to devour those pesky spring mosquitoes 😉

And now we probably have an up-and-coming bat biologist in the house. The amount of “squeeeee!!!” for each bat proved she is one of us. 🦇💕

In the early 1930s the SA was roughing people up, creating chaos in neighborhoods, seeking to terrorize with the occasional killing. By the late 1930s it had been supplanted by the SS, which was much better trained.
Also, may I say that I don’t agree with people saying ICE and CBP need “more training.” They’re doing exactly what this administration has trained them to—impose a reign of fear in blue cities. They don’t need more training. They need to be ripped up root and branch.
