I thought this had to be satire, but it's not. Oh, and a friendly reminder, you would much rather have kids with autism than kids that are dead from vaccine preventable diseases.

One more thing, don't forget the MLO meeting about charter change on Monday, August 17 at 5 PM. This one is really important because we need two out of three votes to get any discussion of charter change out of committee. And yes, that's two nights in a row.
We get to do it all over again at the next meeting, Aug 18. Really strong showing tonight, thank you to everyone who came out!! I'll be adding to this with more scene from the meeting throughout the night.

Anyone hear about Amtrak discontinuing the connecting bus between Worcester and Providence for the Northeast Regional rail? I don't see any way to book trips that would require this past July 31.

In 1992, Donald Shoup's ideas were correct but unpopular. The little band of reformers who agreed with him (like me) were lonely & frustrated. We're not lonely anymore!

I see a whole lot of libraries are ending access to Hoopla lately. Is it resulting from IMLS funding cuts? Is there more to it? Just curious, it's great for reading through book series.

Lovely to see my state praised here, but Massachusetts does not put money behind their support for bilingualism, and Worcester is about to roll back their K-12 program.

This is Ken Paxton's mugshot.

He was indicted on 3 felony counts for investment fraud.

He was reported to the FBI by his own staff for bribery.

He was impeached by his own party for corruption.

Now he’s the Republican nominee for US Senate in Texas.

Together we will stop him.

We've been saying this since 2015. And yet candidates that Trump likes get elected and candidates that lose favor with Trump no longer have political careers.
The GOP is going to implode around Trump like a dying star

Dear #readers, May is Mental Health Awareness Month, the theme is “More Good Days, Together.” This is a good reminder that “having a good day” can be filled with small things that add up in the bigger picture.

The Northwestern DA’s office successfully convicted Etel Haxhiaj, a rapid responder to a Worcester ICE raid, of assault on a police officer. Haxhiaj declined a plea offer that would have required her to sign an apology letter. “I chose the truth,” she said. @billshaner.bsky.social reports:

When they do the police unions have them sentenced for assault.
You want to avoid civil unrest? Then leaders need to show people that they actually stand for something! Foremost, for *them!* For protecting their communities - including people convicted of crimes - from a masked paramilitary that has already proven lethally hostile to the community at large!

Please be aware of people at rallies and protests holding American flags. If people feel bold enough to open carry like that, I'm worried.

Please forgive me if this is a stupid question, but doesn't ICE have to have a judicial warrant to arrest Don Lemon and wasn't that turned down and I don't see anything that states that it was later granted?

I really can't emphasize enough that if you care about local politics, all you gotta do is show up. Just a regular schmegular person showing up. Literally just show up consistently in person and within a remarkably short amount of time, you will have a shocking amount of influence.
