Sad thing is; most Iranians can't stand Islam. It's a religion forced upon them.
The Saudis want to wipe Iran from the face of the map. Or at least its population. Why? They are the wrong kind of Muslim. Saudis are Sunni, Iranians are Shia.
This is exactly like the wars of religion in Europe: two centuries of bloody conflict over who gets to claim the same invisible friend.

An ancient Irish rainforest, overwhelmed by invasive sika deer and rhododendron. As these trees die of old age, only the rhodo remains.
Most of Ireland's only 1% or so of surviving native woodland is dying, almost all due to invasives like sika, goats, sheep, and rhodo.
We could do SO much better.
