Gaming has become so disgustingly unaffordable in Canada thanks to a combination of the shite value of our dollar, and the trade war in America. It's bleak.

RetroAchievements has been wonderful in that regard, though, because I can just simply replay everything I own with new challenges

the best place to start any game series is the one you'll actually play
I sometimes miss the days before basically every game being easily accessible cuz now people can't just pick up a game that looks cool without someone pulling them over like a cop to see if they experienced the previous games correctly or not

costco costs 65 dollars a year and playstation plus costs 80, one of these lets me buy six pound roast chickens for 5 bucks and a 1.50 hot dog combo, and the other gives sony the freedom to mob execute a creator, studio, game or genre I love every other week.

If the claims are even true, which is doubtful since 'uhhh they were an incompetent, we swear' is the opening salvo in every break-up between creative and corporate. Did nobody learn anything from how the Mick Gordon shit went

I am not obligated to care that one of the most poorly managed companies on planet earth, a company that seems almost ideologically opposed to providing me value no matter how much money I give them, got cold feet on an actual worthwhile project after spending half a decade making Concords.

I need to remind everyone, especially after their presentation today.

Level-5 has been very openly using Generative AI in their game development and are proud of it. This includes their newly announced titles such as New World of Steam, Yo-Kai Watch 2 and Curious Village Remake.

Kojima blowing Sony up publicly means shit went so poorly there's no chance they ever work together again. Sony did a speedrun and is now probably more despicable than even XBox.

okay so sony is never making a game worth playing ever again. good to know I can entirely write off the company and all their studios
It's just insane that Sony would just close any partnership with him like this

You feel like the universe is out to get you when three of your favourite video games get remade/released all in a single year in Unreal Engine and all look like the ugliest wet sopping mess of shit you ever seen.

I don't want to be nostalgic anymore. I'm tired of being catered to. I don't want to forever hear the same artistic voices I heard in my youth, now amplified, slowed and reverbed for dramatic effect. I want new worlds. I want new stories. I want new voices. Please!

the fact every metric of success for things is so obfuscated now pisses me off. the only reason for it is to try and hide shit from investors until financials come out, everything should be like hollywood and have public budget and revenue

It's Sunday. Might I suggest starting your day with a cup of coffee and my report on the modern era of Capcom — a story about many things, but a lot about how sensible decision-making and organisational stability can yield rich rewards. Western C-suites, take note!
Capcom is on a generational run. But this is no renaissance: the company has never been greater.

I reported on the secret of its success, from "Crapcom" in the early 2010s to its one-banger-after-another present, speaking to many of its most illustrious producers.

How Capcom Cracked the Code of Game Development
The video game industry is in turmoil, but 2026 could be Capcom’s career year. How does the company behind ‘Resident Evil Requiem,’ ‘Pragmata,’ and ‘Onimusha: Way of the Sword’ keep pumping out hits?

genuinely think videogames should strive towards the level of bizarre genre-name specificity we see in music. Like 'FPS' is so useless that it describes a hundred thousand approaches and I like about five of them but I still have to say that I like FPS games. And that's a relatively specific genre..
"Games as a medium have a broader problem involving genre tags, one that isn’t as prevalent in other disciplines" music would like to have a word
