An upcoming Montana ballot referendum would deny corporations the power to spend in state and federal elections.

If it passes in deep red Montana, it could pass anywhere. State by state, this could effectively nullify Citizens United. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p1fPbGHe3xE
Could This Actually End Citizens United?

I mean, pretty much all the lyrics are appropriate for mocking racists. I love this for them.
Antifascists should start chanting "We will, we will MOCK YOU" at these pathetic, extinction burst, chuds.

The Times is being very charitable to their endorsed candidate with that “embellishment.” No way they would let Wilson get away with the plainly false counting used to arrive at this number.

Not to mention, even if it were true it is far fewer than needed.
Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell is seeking reelection partly based on the claim he’s responsible for adding 3,000 emergency housing units. A deeper look reveals that’s an embellishment.
Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell says he added 3,000 housing units. Did he?

How is Bill Kristol the one who distills today’s news perfectly?
Just FYI: Portland as a war zone is horseshit, and deploying federal troops is horseshit.

Useful thread.
As you think about how to respond to Portland news, maybe think about dif between rhetoric of Newsom & Pritzker. Newsom mirrored; Pritzker spoke clearly about just how dangerous the moment it is. Do you want to be glib? My argument is that the main agency we have now is precision of language. 1/

Yup.
Many of the most accurate descriptions of American politics can be found in the comments on Balloon Juice. This one, from commenter Davis X. Machina (from about 15 years ago), is particularly apt today.

This. Today’s fireworks are fun to watch, but the result could blow up plenty of things we all rely on.
The national security and cybersecurity impacts of this Trump-Musk fallout are out of this world. Musk and the DOGE boys have their tentacles all up in just about every system that supports US government function…

Thread on ICE activity today in Chicago. They’re just grabbing non-citizens regardless of the legality of detention. Yes, deportations are up. But they’re not targeting actual criminals at all; many detained have a legitimate path to citizenship or other status, not undocumented nor here illegally.
Outside immigration court in Chicago this morning, community rally in the rain in support of Ramon Morales-Reyes, a Milwaukee man snatched by ICE and accused of writing a letter threatening President Trump.

There's just one problem: the letter was fake. Another man is now accused of forging it.

Elon Musk got high and fed those kids into the wood chipper.

Republicans in Congress, led by Trump, let him do it. They could have stopped it before it even happened but they didn’t. Every day they don’t stop this madness is a policy decision.
