I find that Bluesky increasingly suffers from many of the same problems that annoyed me with pre-Musk Twitter. People spend too much time talking *at* each other, and it's very hard to be heard here if you aren't a 'big' user. Mastodon is better on both accounts.

It definitely still exists. It has fewer active users than Bluesky, but it's growing. The interface is easier to use than it was during the 2022 Twitter exodus, and the character limit is higher than Bluesky's. I find the signal-to-noise ratio much higher on Mastodon than here.

The hard, diamond-bright legitimacy of victimhood. Of being the ones getting bombed. Of being the ones whose children are under the rubble while the man doing it can't spell "reign" and thinks Persia is a type of carpet.

' You bomb a country's schools and universities and hospitals, you kill its children, you threaten to destroy its power grid in the syntax of a going-out-of-business sale, and you hand the regime the one thing 47 years of domestic repression could never, ever generate organically: legitimacy.
