feels like there is a group of smart and well-intentioned people who long ago made up their minds that AI Is Bad, swore off using it, and now get all their info about AI from each other. not saying they're wrong that ai is bad! but i think they're gradually losing touch with what it is and does
I really wasn’t trying to start a fight with Prof. Bender but now that she has created a long thread subtweeting me and her disciples are all yelling at me, let me just say that this is the crux right here. She seems to respond as though I am describing something a priori impossible.

One of my favorite things throughout the coming out process has been people telling me "oh yeah, that makes sense" or what my tells were. I did leave smoking guns. A couple of y'all have done that and it is very fun for me!

The previously announced changes to the FFXI Free Trial are now live! As of today, September 30, the 14-day time limit has been removed, and the character level cap has been raised from Level 50 to Level 75. Previously expired trial accounts can be used again too!

Trying to not have sour grapes over not getting a Steam Frame, but as an early adopter on other Valve hardware, it does seem like they dropped the ball. Setting aside the memory crisis, they clearly announced it WAY before it was ready to ship, and made some very odd decisions for such a device.
