I was a big Time Team fan back when it was on. Seeing history come alive was my fascination and nowhere dies it do that more than Pompeii. We did the underground tour, as well. It’s huge! Those Greek engineers were amazing. Recommended if you’re there again someday.

Thank you. Yes, we had a good look around Pompeii. It’s incredible to be literally walking around a Roman city, almost seeing life as it must have been back then. Have you been there?

Always happy to help spread the word. It’s always great to see you getting your name out there as an author.
Having a good summer. I hope you are, too. Got married in June, then a week in Naples. Currently between contracts so enjoying R&R and being able to work on all sorts of personal projects.

And for further interest, Melvyn Bragg did an In Our Time episode on Emmy Noether a few years ago.

I’m not qualified to speak about the specific impact to science projects that rely on Jodrell Bank but from a pure optics perspective (I know, it’s a radio telescope) this sends a very poor message about the UK’s commitment to science.

What does this mean for coverage of deep space communication?

We’ve just come back from Naples (honeymoon) and Maradona is still hugely revered, practically deified, judging by the vast quantity of merch available.

Unrelated, we also spotted this, though my Italian isn’t up to it.
