"May Altar" is one of a series of paintings I did as part of an art class this past winter. I usually have a rosary in my pocket and decided to see where the beads would lead. This piece is on view as part of the Umbrella Arts Center's summer student exhibit on view in Concord, MA through August 30.
“May Altar” included in the Umbrella Arts Student Show, A Moment of Reflection, now through August 30, 2026
I owe so much to the Umbrella Arts Center in Concord, Massachusetts, for the opportunities they've provided to me and countless other artists, giving us a chance to pursue art instruction from an incredibly gifted group of instructors whose work inspires us every day. I've studied under Kat O'Connor on and off since 2017, when I took my first watercolor class at the Umbrella thinking it might help me help Walt expand his art to include painting. It turned out that I was the one who expanded my art horizon under Kat's steady guidance.

“Irrational Exuberance” accepted to the Arts Foundation of Cape Cod Summer Auction – bidding open now!
Irrational Exuberance, Watercolor 2024 The Arts Foundation of Cape Cod's annual summer auction is open for bidding, and I am pleased as punch that this vibrant piece, "Irrational Exuberance" (watercolor on paper, 18x13, framed) is included in a truly stunning display of works by local artists. There are experiences and other ways to bid, too, so I hope you'll take a look. A portion of the proceeds from all of the sales goes to support artists work on Cape Cod - where painting is easy but living is expensive.

Cape Cod artists were asked to submit work inspired by the impact of climate change on Cape Cod and I focused on CO2 because I love type. One of my works, CarbonNATION, was accepted but you can see all three by following this link. On view in Yarmouth, MA, until April 25.
“CarbonNATION” on view at the Cultural Center of Cape Cod’s Ocean Fever/Resilient Sea Exhibition through April 25.
CarbonNATION, watercolor, 12x12, 2026 Inspired by the essential work of the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, The Cultural Center of Cape Cod issued a call to local artists to create art that evokes the impact of climate change on local environments. I found myself fixated on the impact of carbon dioxide on our environment and took the opportunity to play with type and color. CarbonNATION was one of three works I submitted to this juried show, which is on view until April 25, 2026. Reception on Friday, April 10, 5-7pm. …
