How the Dominican Baseball Factory Traps Young Players and Their Families With False Promises
Teams make handshake deals with players as young as 11 while moneylenders prey on their families. The industry is corrupt, but Major League Baseball and the players union have done little about it.

I enjoyed Mike Luckovich for years, and then he created this cartoon.

I sat and cried for several minutes.

Then I cut it out of the Los Angeles Times, and I've kept it ever since.

Thank you, Mr. Luckovich.

This is my last Globe 🎁 story for the month and it's worth it.

I teared up multiple times, from the children's birthday party right through to the last story of the New Yorker who keeps returning every year.

This is such a reminder that there are so many good people in our world.

On 9/11, I was at the US Capitol, as a Capitol Police Officer. Faxed my thin resume to a CIA recruiter on 9/12. The next 25 years have been, in profound ways, a direct result of those two days.

It’s what you do with your days that makes your life, not what you almost did.

Do you think if the events of Sept. 11th 2001 happened today, that we would pull together as countrymen like we did back then?

Or are we irredeemably fractured as a society?

I don't know.

I then realized that everyone should have the knowledge to appreciate this ruthless nickname.

“A review of meeting minutes, local reporting, state opioid expenditure disclosures, and invoices obtained via public records requests reveals that at least twelve sheriffs’ offices and police departments have since 2024 spent their opioid funds on Flock cameras.”
Police are spending opioid settlement funds on Flock cameras
Historic opioid settlements were supposed to be a lifeline for underserved communities. But much of that money is flowing to law enforcement.
