Ooh, a sci-fi murder mystery on a Mars colony? That’s honestly one of my favorite kinds of stories. The setting alone sounds so fun to explore! When did you start writing it?

Yes! I think that mindset makes such a difference. The first draft doesn’t have to prove anything, it just has to get the story out. What are you writing?

Honestly, that’s a great sign If you can reread your own joke later and still laugh, it definitely survived the drafting process. What kind of story are you working on?

That’s such a good feeling! There’s something about short writing sprints that makes it easier to just focus and keep moving. Almost at the finish line is huge! What genre is the novel?

I completely agree with this. When characters have their own wants, values, and personalities, they can surprise you and take the story in directions you never expected. That’s often where the most interesting moments come from.

600 days is incredible! I love this reminder that consistency matters more than trying to write huge amounts every day. Even 200 words can move a story forward. What’s your current project about?

Honestly, 600 words over isn’t too bad when the story needs them Sometimes it’s better to finish first and cut with fresh eyes later. And now I’m curious do you already have a few title ideas, or are you starting from scratch?

Finishing touches is such an exciting stage! And the title *Killing My Darlings* definitely caught my attention What’s been the hardest part to let go of during the final edits?

I really agree with this. A clear USP can make such a difference, especially when you’re trying to make a book feel distinct in a crowded space. I’m curious, what’s the biggest mistake you see writers make when developing their USP?

Honestly, that sounds like a beta reader who cares about being helpful, not harsh. Honest feedback can sting a little, but it’s so valuable when it comes from a place of wanting to help your story grow. I hope you continued the conversation with him!
