I love the videos we've started producing this year, where @jtsknight92.bsky.social finds something interesting in our library and goes down a rabbit hole, teaching you how to research along the way.

Also, look at the comments! It turns out intelligent content builds intelligent communities, weird.

The first and really only meaningful critique of game art I've seen today -- illuminating stuff into someone's perspective and curiosity, while exploring the contentious relationship between fidelity and imagination. Nice one @jmrivera.bsky.social

September 1 1997, NBA Hangtime debuted on the N64 in PAL territories!

Midway's true successor to NBA Jam (after Acclaim bought the exclusive rights to the name), this game features a full Create A Player (and Matthew Perry + other celebs) with stats/leveling, as well as costume options and courts!

I saw this game playing on a TV in the mall and thought it was a TV broadcast at first. I am posting this so younger people can make fun of me the way I make fun of people in the old timey theater jumping out of the way when they saw a movie of a train coming at them

I think people have lost the plot of the phrase "runs on a potato"
A potato isn't a PC with an entry price of $900 without a monitor and Windows or whatever
A potato is the computers at the library that have people gaming on them EVERY SINGLE DAY I'm in there

This is my favorite retro game con, they put out the good stuff, and it's in a funky air and space museum. I'll be there lecturing, projecting slides into a giant IMAX theater showing Nintendo's abandoned attempt NES as a home lottery system. Later I will sip beer and play Barbie Fashion Designer.
Import retro games are more than just foreign exclusive titles, they’re completely different experiences like a rapid-fire light gun Famicom game found only in Japan as seen here with @frankcifaldi.bsky.social of VGHF. Check out the Retro Import showcase this week, Aug 7-9 at LI Retro. LIRetro.com

After excessive demand and a high volume of direct messages we will be highlighting Quest64 as a featured title in our RPG Zone as well as hosting special prizes for those we spot cosplaying as a Quest64 character. We appreciate the feedback and look forward to hearing your memories. LIRetro.com

Mighty No. 9… This game is *good*. Not the best ever, but there are way worse games out there (including Mega Man games). The presentation & performance is rough and obviously the Kickstarter stuff was a shitshow, but there’s so much I like about MN9 having finished the main campaign.

Here's some quick mock ups of what I'm aiming for with my next GBA/e-Reader game.

Kind of what you'd get if Advance Wars, Fire Emblem and Magic the Gathering were thrown into a blender.

Super ambitious, can I pull it off? Eh, probably not. But I will try my hardest :)

I’m crushed about the PS3 and Vita stores closing as someone who’s used them recently. Not only is it great to have them to download games from still (at great prices), but they make the systems still feel alive - unlike the Wii or Xbox 360 which are shells of their former online glory.

piracy is the only extant form of media preservation that exists in games right now, you might find it morally reprehensible but there is literally no other institution that will keep games alive in 25, 50 years' time

God I didn't realize they were shutting down the PS3 and Vita stores too. Honestly, in our game availability study, we didn't even count PS3/Vita games as "available" because the stores were so broken that they barely worked. That's the long-term state of digital storefronts
