First week of school and somehow I am already deep in the trenches of battling lice. And schools no longer do any kind of checks so despite letting other parents know I’m concerned about re-infestation. SIGH.

Pro tip when it comes to fruit pies: mix up the filling and let it hang out in the fridge overnight. Use a slotted spoon to place the fruit in the pie shell, so you can control how much liquid goes in. In the words of Mary Berry: “No one likes a soggy bottom.”

Also I have a Very Good Friend who is helping me knit this child-sized sweater that has been the bane of my crafting existence for over a year. (Restarted the entire project more than once and have had to frog and reknit sections SO MANY TIMES.)

Every now and again it strikes me just how large Princess Donut is. She’s a big lady! Even aside from the floof she’s just literally big-boned.

Also I am very pleased that I was able to repurpose furniture we already had (aside from buying a new rolling printer stand that fits under my side desk).

It took me until I was 40 but I finally have a dedicated craft area that looks like it belongs to a grown-up.

I did not expect Bojack Horseman to hit me right in the feels like this.

And when it got canceled, I was really bummed out, not because I liked the show, but because I knew it could be so much better, and now it never would be. And that’s what losing a parent it like. It’s like Becker. Suddenly, you realize you’ll never have the good relationship you wanted, and as long as they were alive, even though you’d never admit it, part of you, the stupidest goddamn part of you, was still holding on to that chance.

Additional update on her majesty’s wellbeing: vet’s test results came back negative for anything concerning (as we had hoped), and the pet sitter was allowed a brief glimpse of her and her brother.

Update on her majesty’s health: ER vet believes her gastrointestinal woes are stress-related, and prescribed a bland diet and probiotics. Testing for other issues is ongoing. The pet sitter will be making additional visits to more closely monitor her royal highness’s health and food intake.
