Jersey City needs this at five corners, I've been begging for "circular traffic diverters" at that spot and the response from infra is always tepid. Like, don't they want to fix the mess?

I appreciate this, but I don't think a lack of policy ideas is really the problem. We know how to push back against car-centric development. It's just that most Americans have been marinating in pro-car propaganda their entire lives & cars have made them selfish & sociopathic.

I wanted to add to this one.
1) Some people have bad taste and it’s showing in the comments. The build on the right is objectively bad.
2) Here’s some great examples of simple boxes that are brand new from my neighborhood. And these don’t showcase the well done modernist ones.

Jersey City has been doing an ok job of daylighting but really lacking on street flood mitigation via green infrastructure. Hoping to see more on par with Hoboken and NYC on that front.
In Hoboken, NJ, by 2024, Hoboken built 47 rain gardens to not only mitigate flooding, some of the largest of which can detain up to 26K gallons of rainwater, but also to double as curb extensions as part of the city's Vision Zero efforts!
Hoboken hasn't had a traffic death since 2017!

Govenor @mikiesherrill.bsky.social Thank you for your executive order, but there are a lot of issues with the HBLR that will take more than 45 days to resolve. 20-30 min off peak service is bad enough, but when trains are frequently taken out of service, that means riders have to wait 40 minutes.
There were three separate issues with the HBLR today:
train taken out of service around noon, that disrupted between Hoboken and 8th in Bayonne. That’s when service is every 20 min, so riders would have to wait 40 min for the next train.

We know New York isn't building enough housing. But outside NYC, the housing we do build is overwhelmingly single-family sprawl, often bulldozing acres of forest to build mansions.

I'm sorry but the Port Authority going over budget on all of their fun Newark Airport construction, is the reason we don't have a PATH extension to Newark Airport in the capital plan. They need to get more serious about moving large numbers of people efficiently. And this just isn't it.

Oregon's state senate just voted to ban unfunded inclusionary zoning, recognizing that it makes housing *less* affordable, not more affordable.
Great piece of legislation passed the Oregon Senate.
SB 1521 bans inclusionary zoning UNLESS Portland-area govts create a pay-for to compensate builders for being forced to provide affordable units.
NIMBY local governments won't be able to use IZ to block new housing supply.
