Practical Magic is not a perfect film, but it had a stellar cast & impeccable Wiccan vibes. It's surprising Hollywood magic that Practical Magic 2 was made, but it's disappointing that this even better cast is given such a messy script. My @ign.com review: www.ign.com/articles/pra...
Practical Magic 2 Brings Back Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman, But It's Cursed With a Very Messy Script
Sandra Bullock, Nicole Kidman and the rest of the Practical Magic 2 cast toil and trouble to conjure up a worthwhile sequel, but they’re cursed with a very messy script.

I am serious about this. After the violent, epic tragedy of "The Iliad," people wanted a sequel featuring the clever trickster character and Homer decided, "sure, but let's also make it a love story and make it weirdly poignant."
"The Odyssey" was the "Better Call Saul" of its time.

As a new Harry Potter trailer makes the rounds, it bears repeating that there’s no way to watch this show without supporting J.K. Rowling’s bigotry and the structural violence she’s inflicting on the trans community.
There is no ethical consumption of HBO’s Harry Potter series
You can’t without supporting Rowling’s transphobic bigotry.

Highly recommend the stop-motion episode of Peacock's Poker Face where Phil Tippett's current work is front and center in an episode that Natasha Lyonne directed and co-wrote. The master still making magic; my SYFY WIRE interview with Tippett: www.syfy.com/syfy-wire/ph...
Effects legend Phil Tippett on digging up old props & inspiring latest 'Poker Face' episode

End of an era for me as my @IGN @strangerthings.bsky.social review caps a decade of enjoying & covering #StrangersThings for multiple outlets. Sure, people will pick apart the finale but the Duffers kept their series character-centric to the end. My spoiler-filled review. Txs for reading!
ign.com IGN @ign.com · Jan 2
Stranger Things was a generational event with almost impossible expectations surrounding its finale. The Duffer Brothers have evolved into successful blockbuster directors whose enduring legacy will be mostly doing right by their cast of characters.

A great movie to kick off 2026 is Zak Hilditch's #WeBurytheDead which is out Jan 2 in US theaters. Daisy Ridley carries the film beyond the undead tropes into a complex journey of a woman searching for answers about life, marriage and herself. My @avclub.com review:

Daisy Ridley finds something to live for in the contemplative zombie movie We Bury The Dead
We Bury The Dead is a zombie movie, but it's also a thoughtful exploration of the human frailties that haunt us in life, and death.
