a big part of why I’m not too active here is that i want to bitch about work but not in a way where my account is linked to my job in any way. So, what, I say “I hate how when I’m [redacted] I can’t [redacted], it makes it so tedious”? wait that was actually kind of a relief to type

god damn it people are seeing my takes. this is exactly what I don’t want. nobody look

today’s tolkien take. labeling the shire “cottagecore” is accurate, because cottagecore, the shire, and tradwife content all romanticize the same thing: not homesteading, country life, or self-sufficiency, but *being landowning gentry in a rural setting* (but tolkien wrote it that way intentionally)

welcome to all new bluesky users. please keep in mind that it is still in beta. there are many features still missing, so please be patient. for example, you may notice that this app loads posts and then shows them to you, instead of not doing that for some reason.

TRAGIC: bitch foolishly allows car computer to update before parking at home, has to back into parking spot without cameras like it’s the 1700s

ok I’ve changed my mind on getting out of work just as the sun sets bc of the time change. at first I was frothing at the mouth and seething but now I actually think it’s quite peaceful to step out into an early dusk

blind guardian has THREE songs from fëanor’s pov on their wonderful album nightfall in middle earth (if you count 2018’s The Tides of War). this rules, and I love it. also I love all of the other songs

tolkien and i both love stories of the tragedy that can be born of of the inherent urge to learn and create. but i think he liked them for different reasons tbh. *picks up a guitar* anyway here’s noldolantë

born to drink iced tea and do hobbies while listening to silmarillion, forced to [redacted] for paycheck

i like how this makes it sound like i do something terrible for a living but actually it’s just too specific and if an employer finds any social media account I have ill lose my marbles

forgot this account exists. my takes on silmarillion from 5 months ago are wrong wrong wrong
May 7, 2024 at 3:59 AM
being serious for a moment the silmarillion is actually about the horror of immortality. if something doesn’t naturally die, it has no life cycle; so when it is unnaturally killed, that’s it. it’s no more. feanor’s tragedy is that he saw this problem with the trees and had an insane solution

want to be home. reading silm and drinking iced tea. not here doing [redacted so employer find me bc this is an outside account]

“Once you’ve been to Cambodia, you’ll never stop wanting to beat Henry Kissinger to death with your bare hands,” Bourdain wrote in “A Cook’s Tour: Global Adventures in Extreme Cuisines,” his 2001 memoir.
Anthony Bourdain always wanted to punch Henry Kissinger over Cambodia
“I hate him,” the celebrity chef once said of the former secretary of state, in a sentiment he repeated often. “I’ve stumbled upon his good works everywhere I go.”

This exact phenom is exactly why the worst dialogue is written by a 50 year old who graduated from Harvard in the 90s and his dad got him a job in Hollywood and some of the best poetry you've ever heard is by a 30 year old high functioning alcoholic who works in a shipping yard as "the quiet one"
