Something I've always loved about Sunshine is how much effort they put into making Isle Delfino feel like a real, cohesive location. The fact that you can see the other levels from one another makes it feel more real in a way that other mario games don't.
It's a small thing, but it adds so much.

Okay this has bothered me literally my entire life - How in the everloving fuck do they expect you to grab this 1up?
I don't think anybody besides TAS speedrunners can legitimately get it so I have to assume it was left there unintentionally, especially since there are two VERY EASY 1ups close by.
