another thing is a little harder to justify in my head: the more i’ve worked on this and my (still somewhat tentative) degree in middle eastern/islamic studies, the less qualified i feel to lead this project.

but the strife in creating my own solutions and learning from people who are more knowledgeable than me and paying honors to painstaking craftsmanship and passion is the crux of what makes this hobby so fulfilling to me!

it can feel hard to progress when technology is also progressing. there’s an expectation that things should be finished already because “XYZ can do it for you in minutes”. sometimes i’ve even wondered if i’m too stubborn about doing things “the hard way”.

part of the reason i concluded phase 1 when i did was because i was anticipating life to hit me like a (fire)truck. and hit me it did.. fortunately not literally, but a lot of new things to adjust to leaves little time for outreach and managing projects the way that i’d like to.
