How about successive governments trashing the planning system to make it much easier for developers to cover highly productive farmland with sprawl housing, distribution sheds or data centres?
Probably "less than bugger all".

And giving more powers to biddable elected regional, metro and local mayors means stripping elected councils of powers and failing to create regional assemblies.
This is not #devolution.

Surely electoral reform should include abolition of "elected" regional, metro & local mayors. However people vote, first-past-the-post usually puts all the power in the hands of one party. Elected mayors always do this - but also put it in the hands of 1 person.
+ Whitehall regards them as biddable.

Don't worry, the Government assures us that, if it completes its destruction of the #planning system, commercial builders will suddenly flood the country with new builds, some of them somewhere near rural railway stations.
