I love finding these things. Old school physical data. You'd think they'd have a unique ID assigned to them, but no. It's on a map somewhere I guess. Often they have the name of the surveyor. On this one I think GJS is his initials.

Glacial Lakes State Park also turns out to be a great park. These are fun pics in the sun, but trails are in woods and wetlands as well as rolling open hills. Up & down climbs provided by glaciers shoving dirt around

Here's a zoom* on Mille Lacs Lake. Could be Lake Superior except you can just see the other side. * just digital zoom because I had not taped my camera back together yet, I suppose I could have switched lenses but I did not think of that

Yes, Mille Lacs seems so far up there, but it's only 2hrs from the Cities. Unless someone is moving A HOUSE that day!

So Mille Lacs Kathio State Park has some nice trails with lots of route options. Parts of the park are dead tree groups. I guess the land floods, killing the trees that stay standing?

My excuse for chickening out partway up is the chickenwire, only thing between you & death, snagged my camera, ripped off back of it which fluttered down in the wind to stairs below & I said NOPE. (repaired camera with duct tape later)
