What stood out to me was that the psychodynamic effect size in the JAMA study increased from 1.03 at termination to 1.25 almost 2 years later. This shows the importance of "evaluating" therapy by whether patients continue to improve after the therapist is no longer there. #Psyc4666 #TalkingHelps

One thing I wish I had learned earlier is that knowing how to read research matters just as much as reading the conclusion. Understanding terms like statistical significance and publication bias completely changes how I (we) evaluate findings. #TalkingHelps #Psyc4666

What Your Therapist Thinks of You: It reminded me of Birnkrant's discussion. Just as therapists may feel pressured to overdocument/diagnose to satisfy insurance requirements, they might also feel pressured to soften their notes if they know patients will read them. @drwilliamsharp.bsky.social

Humanism is about understanding who we really are. When our real self and ideal self don’t match, it can make us feel stressed or not good enough. Accepting yourself helps you feel better and grow.

But growing up in Brazil, I realized the importance of another type of happiness. Brazil shows that hedonic happiness still matters, especially culture, shared experiences and connection. We find happiness in simple everyday moments, even when things are hard.

Brazil & Denmark: two models of happiness. In class, we watched a video about Denmark’s approach, and I think it’s more sustainable because it focuses on long-term factors like life expectancy and trust, rather than just momentary joy. Continue in next post... #PSYC3400 @drwilliamsharp.bsky.social

What struck me in class was how one word can activate a whole inner world with it. Seeing how LOVE expanded into health, heart showed me that what feels like a simple thought might actually be a complex quietly organizing how I experience people and emotions. @drwilliamsharp.bsky.social #PSYC3400

@drwilliamsharp.bsky.social I was thinking about Sullivan’s idea that the self only exists in relation to others. I came across this Pew Study (www.pewresearch.org/internet/201...) on how people act differently over text vs in-person. #PSYC3400
