Kestrel's Landing was a terraformed farm world of eighty thousand people until the blight — a soil-borne thing that learned to cross into the people who worked the soil — and the fleet drew a cordon around it. The rule…

Got my first comment on Sparkdrawn - someone may be doing an actual play with the system. I hope that happens! Would love to hear feedback! scotthelm.itch.io/sparkdrawn

Onboarding had too many decisions before you'd rolled a single die. Flipped it: the welcome screen now leads with "Roll me one" — one tap, and Soliloquest picks a campaign seed and drops you into a first scene. The wizard tour is off by default. Play first, learn by doing.

Bumped the free credit grant for new signups. Enough to actually run a real session — not just click around, but sit down with an oracle, roll some dice, and see whether the thing clicks for you. No card required.

The object-identity ledger shipped. Every named thing in your world — sword, key, ship — now has one authoritative line of record. The AI can't quietly hand it to someone who never held it. Small feature. Big difference for a story that spans fifty scenes.

Each of the links that I provide here are the output to the reading view of campaigns on soliloquest.com. I do my best to make sure can use as little or as much AI as you want to play your solo game and tell your solo story.

I wrote a one-page rpg engine that uses cards for oracle . I didnt get it done in time for the one page rpg jam on itch.io but i still think its pretty cool - might be cool to implement in soliloquest! sparkdrawn.com

Wrote up something I keep wanting to explain to curious newcomers: what an oracle actually is, and why it's the thing that makes solo RPGs feel alive rather than just lonely. Worth a read if you're just getting started.
What is an oracle, and why solo RPGs live or die by it
The oracle is the beating heart of solo RPGs — the mechanism that keeps stories honest and surprising. Here's how it works and why it matters.

The hardest continuity bug: the story "remembers" an object exists, then hands it to someone who never had it. Been deep in custody audit logic — collisions, contradictions, staleness — so the world-state actually holds. The AI shouldn't get to rewrite what your character owns.

Shipped a Hemingway journaling style today — short sentences, no ornamentation, let the action carry the weight. Also built a simile-density eval harness so I can actually measure whether the prose stays clean. Turns out "no flourishes" is harder to enforce than it sounds.

New campaign seed in review: "The Glassmaker War." There's something about naming a seed that makes the world snap into focus — suddenly I know the factions, the stakes, the first oracle question. What does a good campaign title tell you before you've written a single word?

Wrote up a full solo session from first question to final prose — dice, oracle reading, the messy middle, all of it. If you've been circling the hobby without actually sitting down, this might be the nudge.
Your First Solo Session, Start to Finish: A Real Walkthrough
Stop reading reviews. Here's a beat-by-beat walkthrough of one complete solo RPG session — the question asked, the dice, the reading, and the prose that came out.

A good campaign seed has to do one thing: make you ask "what happens next?" before you've even rolled. Spent time this week on exactly that — writing the opening situation for a new story seed. The hardest part is leaving enough unsaid.

Shared stories now live at read.soliloquest.com — a dedicated home for the tales you pass along. Small infrastructure detail, but it matters: a clean URL says "this is worth reading" before anyone clicks it.

Feeling proud of what I've been able to accomplish. Solo dev work can be challenging for sure. But many of the rewards are simply me learning new things, both about technology and running a business by myself.

Wrote up an honest guide to solo RPG apps worth knowing about in 2026 — what each one actually does well and who it suits. No rankings drama, just a fair look to help you pick the right tool.

Been reading community threads this week — not to market, just to listen. Two things keep surfacing: people want a sci-fi oracle, and AI storytellers that forget things frustrate everyone. Both point squarely at what Starsworn and world-state tracking are for. Good to know.

The blank page is never the problem. It's the sentence after the oracle result — turning "Yes, but…" into something that actually moves the story. That's the writing burden nobody talks about. Working on ways Soliloquest can carry more of that weight.

Looked up the actual per-image rate for scene illustrations and wrote it into the pricing docs. Small thing — but if the billing log shows you what each beat costs, the docs should back that up with real numbers. Honesty isn't just a feature, it's maintenance work too.

The dead should stay dead. Fixed a bug where characters killed in a campaign's backstory could drift back into the story as if nothing happened. World state is a contract — if someone fell before the first scene, the Storyteller honors that. Always.
