There will certainly be those who will want to try and assert control after Trump's out of the picture and the logic, I think, will be better a hapless puppet in Rubio than a genuine threat that may answer to no one.
The threat is real and they have to try to subvert it or get railroaded.

I'm sure his heart is in it, but honestly I've never understood why more politicians don't do it. It's one of the easiest gimmies in public life (and also being the right thing to do).
