The US is racing backwards.

Ectopic Pregnancy Deaths Have Nearly Doubled. It’s Worse in States With Abortion Bans.
Increase in Deaths: ProPublica’s analysis of CDC data found that almost 200 women died after an ectopic pregnancy from 2020 to 2025, compared with about 100 in the previous six years.

Listen up people. Yesterday, August 6, President Trump spoke in Las Vegas and said, "The economy is the greatest economy we've ever had by far."
And he's right as today's job release of figures from the Bureau of Labor Statistics shows. The number of jobs grew by negative 23,000 in July. 1/3

Copilot's report on the decline in 2025 compared to 2024 is correct but this serves as a warning not to accept AI's reports on data without checking the numbers to make sure they're correct.

Math is not my strong suit but I noticed that in 2024, the number of homicides fell a lot. Either Copilot is really bad at math or it was drawing on someone else's incorrect calculation of the drop in DC homicides from 2023-2024.

I was having a discussion (ok... argument) online about crime in Washington, DC. I used Bing to search the DC homicide rate and Copilot, Bing's AI assistant spit out the response in the pic below.

In comparison, during 2024 the US only added 2,346,000 new jobs. Boooo!!! That's due to Pres. Biden's anti-business policies, which, thank God, have ended.
Thank you President Trump!!

The Bureau of Labor Statistics issued its year-end report for 2025, the first year of Pres. Trump's new Reich. I mean Administration. And the news is very, very good. Following on the heels of the worst President in the history of the United States, we saw job growth of a total of 181,000 jobs!

What an ugly assault on First Amendment and on Congress.

Thankfully, thwarted.

"A group of ordinary citizens sitting on the grand jury in Federal District Court in Washington rejected the effort."

Shame on DOJ.

The August Jobs report is out from BLS and is even better than July’s.
The number of new jobs reported in August 2025 was 22,000, vast improvement over July's report of 75,000 new jobs.
This compares to the Aug. 2024 report under Biden when only 142,000 new jobs were added to the economy!

After the Bureau of Labor Statistics delivered numbers on employment that the President didn’t like, he fired the head of the Bureau.
So you know you’ll be able to trust next month’s statistics for sure.

Trump fires BLS commissioner after weak jobs report
Without evidence, Trump called the data "rigged" and implied that BLS Commissioner Erika McEntarfer manipulated the numbers "for political purposes."

And, to be clear, this isn't a condition limited to Trump supporters. There are plenty of people who reject things that don't confirm their opinions but seize on things that do confirm them. It just seems like we are in the midst of an extreme example of this human tendency.

Due process of law is bad if it protects bad people but, of course, good if it protects Trump supporters.
Those of us who believe in evidence are doomed to be disappointed. Facts are not going to change the minds of people whose beliefs are not based on facts but on bigger truths.

So, vaccination can be bad no matter what the facts are.
Climate change can be fake no matter what the facts are.
Kilmar Abrego Garcia can be a gang member even though the photo showing him with MS-13 tattooed on his knuckles is fake and there is no evidence of him being a gang member at all.

For Trump supporters, it really doesn't matter what the facts are because they believe in bigger truths. There are things that are true even they are not supported by the facts and there are things that are not true even when they are supported by facts.

I wrote something about this last year when JD Vance said he really didn't care if the story about immigrants eating cats and dogs was true or not. It illustrated a bigger truth: Immigrants are bad and not like us real Americans.

The application of this policy to a part-time, semi-retired worker just shows again that one of the real goals of these new personnel policies is to strip the government of institutional memory.

I would have to commute 2 1/2 to 3 hours every day I work and I have no intention of doing that so, one way or another, by the return to office deadline of March 17 I will be done with working for the Federal Government.

I learned last week that the return to the office directive all HHS employees received also applied to me although I am only working 3-5 hours per week.

HHS leadership has caved and instructed all employees to respond to OPM's “What did you do last week? Part II” email. I will respond by the deadline in a way that is appropriate to the spirit of malicious harassment that has infected the leadership of the US government.

I just called the White House comment line to register how embarrassing the President and Vice President’s actions towards President Zelensky were.
The White House line, (202) 456-1111, is open 11 am to 3 pm, Tuesday through Thursday!!
That’s how much this president cares about public opinion.
