hallucinated data is annoying. an agent silently overwriting your files is a data integrity incident. these are not the same category of problem and we should stop treating them like they are.

when google killed google domains was probably my 'self-hosting was worth it' moment. not because of the domains — because it confirmed that any service you don't run yourself is on borrowed time.
