Punk ass book jockey, academic edition
I got out of work early today thanks to my university’s decision to rent the basketball arena to the RNC for a rally attended by the president tonight and made a beeline to do a thorough recon mission of our brand new Barnes & Noble.

Much like 1967, the 2026 Red Sox rode into the playoffs thanks to Yastrzemski.

I am looking for someone who works at an airline because logistics fascinate me and I have a genuine, non-snarky question about checked luggage and it’s nothing I’m mad about.

ok look The Odyssey is very much a sequel
‘THE ODYSSEY’ has passed $1 billion internationally.

The first time a non-sequel or non-remake film has reached this mark since ‘Avatar’.

I’m not sure how I’m pulling this off but I am simultaneously deeply unhappy, deeply happy, and utterly exhausted. There’s nothing good to look forward to but there’s also so much good to look forward to.

I got relentlessly peer pressured (saw a few Instagram posts) to read this lil chunk of a book.

The Library is devastated to learn of the passing of Dolly Parton, a music legend and titan of children's literacy. Her Imagination Library program has earned multiple Library Literacy Awards and, in 2018, she visited us to donate its 100 millionth book to our collection and host a story time. 🦋❤️

Great discussion of this complex book in book club today! I really had to overcome a lot of fears when I started this book club and it’s been a total success - we’re into our second year now.

Our selections:

Heartwood

Love Forms

Stop Me if You’ve Heard This One

Heart, Be At Peace

There seems to be a lot of mountain discourse right now but the Cascades are being overlooked. They blow up! Show some respect to that subduction zone!

I tweaked my neck by sleeping funny Tuesday night and by last night it had started to loosen up - not totally back to normal but headed that way. Last night I slept funny again and now it's so stiff and sore that to turn to the right I need to pivot from the waist. Aging is not for the weak.

Hey fountain pen folks, I am looking for a rich, deep blue, dark but not indistinguishable from black ink for my Waterman Carene. Recommendations welcome!

One of the most valuable career skills you can learn is when you are too dumb to complete a particular task at a particular moment. Better to say, “I don’t have the bandwidth for this right now, I will prioritize it when my brain is fresh tomorrow,” than forge ahead and screw something up.

I just bought a ticket to see the Twins play the Guardians at Target Field while I’m in MN for a little solo trip. A soft launch of stadium chasing - won’t have the time to dedicate to that for a few years yet. Aside from Fenway all the others I’ve been to no longer exist/function that way.
