Why "mostly" Gen Z - while they're the majority of who you'll see doing this today, they're often manipulated into this behavior by people in power and influence. Sometimes it's an unhealthy reaction to their material conditions and trauma. You'll also find some Millennials falling into this too.

Yea, for many that's where it comes from. Ironic where it leads them. Many millennials fall for this too, usually the ones who still maintain the infamous Tumblr mindset, or those who are actually conservative.

Despite its roots and history, its current iteration is nonpartisan and secular. You will just as often find a queer liberal enforcing this as you will find a fascist enforcing it.

Now you know what it is.

It's enforced through moral scolding and brow-beating first. When that fails to get compliance, it escalates to stochastic harassment campaigns, flagging campaigns to censor and deplatform, and even leads to doxxing, which ironically is a crime when used to threaten and intimidate.
